As of 1/7/09 and according to Schering-Plough, they're still in the process of moving the Drixoral manufacturing plant.  Once the move is completed (supposedly some time in 2009) they still have to wait for FDA approval to begin the manufacturing process.  Best guess from the customer service rep is that Drixoral won't be available until some time in 2010.  Or not.  I asked several specific questions about "the move".   Q.  Does the plant make products other than Drixoral? A.  Yes.  (Claritin, Nasonex and Zetia to name a few.) Q.  How come these other products are available but Drixoral is not? A.  Uhh, well, umm, gee, I'm not sure. Q.  Will the "new" Drixoral have the same formulation as the "old" Drixoral? A.  Uhh, well, umm, gee, I'm not sure. Q.  Has Schering-Plough been under pressure from the FDA, DEA, etc to remove the pseudoephidrine sulfate in Drixoral due to the "war on drugs"? A.  I'm not at liberty to discuss any internal legal issues.   I've never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed, but it sure seems as though Schering-Plough has no intentions of bringing back the Drixoral we relied upon.  When Drixoral went from being a true over-the-counter product to a behind-the-counter-show-an-ID-and-sign-your-life-away product, the end was in sight.  By not being readily available on the shelf, new potential customers were not aware Drixoral existed.  Old customers did not buy enough to make the product financially viable.   Concerning the war on drugs, I wonder how many people have been caught with an illegal stash of Drixoral?
