My daughter completed 10 days of amoxicillin for an ear infection but got sick a week and a half later.  We had to take her to the emergency room for a high fever, and the doctor said the ear infection was back.  He prescribed Augmentin.  For the first 3 days she seemed better, but for the last 2 she's been coughing a lot and sweating a lot.  I just wonder if maybe she got a cold on top of this or if it could be some reaction to the Augmentin.

Hi Kerry,

Thank you for your question. You can check this website to learn more about the symtpoms of allergic reaction. Sweating and coughing are not normally symptoms of an allergic reaction, but if you are concerned, you should contact your child's pediatrician.

Best of luck,

Casey

An allergy is the immune system's over-reaction to a normally harmless substance called an allergen.
