where does a doctor put an allergy shot? in the arm or the hips area

I got allergy shots for years, and they were always in the arm.  They were painlesss, but be forewarned- I found that my symptoms usually got worse right after the shot, and sometimes led to sinus infections.  I stopped the shots for this reason, and now just take a daily pill.   Good luck.

Allergy shots are recommended to be given in the arm subcutaneously (between the deeper layers of the skin and underlying muscle, usually towards the back of the upper arm).

Allergy shots are well tolerated by the majority of people who get them from board certified allergists. Of course there are exceptions and for those people other forms of treatment may be necessary.

Allergy shots may not only reduce allergic rhinitis symptoms and the need for some of the allergy medications, but also help to control asthma. Allergy shots may delay and decrease the risk of developing asthma when given in childhood.

I think a shot or two in the arm may be well worth the discomfort and monthly inconvenience in the long run. Many of my patients feel this way.
