  Hi Honey, (I'm not trying to be fresh)   Allergy shots are recommended to be given in the arm subcutaneously (between the deeper layers of the skin and underlying muscle, usually towards the back of the upper arm).   Click here to see a picture of an allergy shot being given in my office.   Allergy shots are well tolerated by the majority of people who get them from board certified allergists. Of course there are exceptions and for those people other forms of treatment may be necessary.   Allergy shots may not only reduce allergic rhinitis symptoms and the need for some of the allergy medications, but also help to control asthma. Allergy shots may delay and decrease the risk of developing asthma when given in childhood.   I think a shot or two in the arm may be well worth the discomfort and monthly inconvenience in the long run.
