My son of 4yrs+,is haveing allergic problem diagnosed by doctors mainly for his eye. The symtoms are:
1. he gets itching in his eyes and after so his eyes become bloody red. This continues for some time the itching may disappear but redness persits. This continues and majory happens once he wakes up in the moring. He regulary gets a sticky watery discharge form his eyes mainly while sleeping.
2.Sometimes he gets a irritaion in his throat and stated caughing. It leading to a serious caughing till he vomits and gets some releif. Only antiallergic medicine line 'cetrigine' can stop this if given in earlier stage.
Kindly update me if you have any specific treatment for this.
Hi, This sounds like pretty standard eye allergy and nasal allergy symptoms. So, you will have quite a few options for treating the symptoms. The best thing is to talk with your child's doctor about your options, since the doctor is most familiar with your child and his medical history.
For eye allergies, there's a new breed of antihistamine eye drops that I've found work well. Alaway is one brand you can ask your doctor about. They're available without a prescription. For nasal symptoms, oral antihistamines like Claritin, Zyrtec and Allegra come in pediatric versions. There are also nasal antihistamine or steroid sprays. Singulair is another option.
From a comfort standpoint, I've also found that placing cold compresses on the eyes helps relieve itching, redness and swelling in and around the eyes. But first wash off any crustiness or stickiness with a warm washrag.
Good luck,
Kathi

My so is 5 and we have been dealing with this (mostly in winter). He was tested for allergies at 3 (he was negative) and again at 5. Now we know that he is allergic to dust mites, pollen, feathers and mold. He is so much better since getting allergy pillow and matress covers, a hepa air filter (35 bucks at Target) and store brand allergy meds. He had a horrible cough (which was his only asthma symptom) which would go on all night and sent him to the ER last year. Have your son tested with the scratch test.
