Q: Can an allergy to food or antibotics cause hives?

Hi Alice,

 

The answer to your question is ABSOLUTELY! Hives is a common skin reaction to both food allergies and drug allergies. It is a sign of what is known as an anaphylactic shock reaction and can be serious and even life-threatening if not treated promptly. For more information on anaphylaxis, see this article.
