Q: what could be the reason for severe dull achy joint pain and urticaria?

I am a 25yr old male in good shape. I had a shoulder injury when i was training for the navy seals about 5 years ago. The docs told me i have a superior labral tear and mild tendonitis in my left shoulder. ive been ou of the navy for a 2 years now and I am currently a firefighter. i did a hard workout over a month ago (pushups / pullups) and that night and every night since i have experienced a tremendous aching dull pain coming from both shoulders and going down both arms into the hands. one night both my hands swelled up really bad. so I started taking aleve and a week later i am now breaking out in hives. i believe they are "pressure hives". now when i work with my hands they swell up due to the hives. Im in a lot of pain every night and now i have urticaria. ive been to the ER and my PCP and no answers. Is it arthritus from my training years ago? what could severe joint pain and hives be the result of?? Please help. Thank You.  Forgot to add, my wrists and fingure joints are also very stiff and crack when i try to stretch them.  i believe they are inflammed.

Hi Eric,

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to try to diagnose you over the Internet. But you ARE entitled to answers about what's going on in your body to cause you such distress. Be persistent with your medical team. Ask for answers. If they can't give them to you, then ask for a referral to a specialist or another doctor for a second opinion... perhaps an orthopedic specialist?

To your health,

Kathi
