Thursday, April 01, 2010 Kira asks

Q: Can my 8 month old take benadryl for his alergies?

He has had a runny nose (clear to yellow discharge), cough, watery eyes and for about a month now. He has problems sleeping and is up about every 1hr during the night with a stuffy nose. He isnt running fever but did have a generalized rash about a week ago. He just seems uncomfortable.

Hi Kira, While they do make pediatric strength Benadryl, I would never advise you give it to him without checking with your baby's doctor first. So at least give the doctor a call about those symptoms, OK? That way you can plan the best strategy together, and the safest for your son.

Best,

Kathi
