Q: Mold vs. moisture levels

I thought mold was a product of high levels of moisture in the air,....so what's up with mold allergies during dry times?

Hello Thdw867,

 

Mold is a funny thing. Did you know just because you can smell mold does not mean there is enough in your environment to make you ill? You learn something every day.

 

There is a great article about mold here written by Sloane Miller. Chances are that even though it is a dry season, you can have mold growing in unusual spots. For instance, a Christmas tree will emit tons of mold within the first several weeks of bringing it in to the house. You can read about that and other factoids here.
