You bet it can or. more accurately. allergies can trigger asthma. I have severe asthma which is probably caused by my allergies. I am hoping that after a few years of injections my asthma will improve or even (fingers crossed) go away altogether.

It is a good idea to see a BOARD CERTIFIED allergist. Many ENTs try to pass themselves off as allergists. THEY ARE NOT. An ENT nearly killed me. If you have severe allergies, you need a specialist in immunotherapy.

Good luck.

The previous commenter is correct -- allergies can trigger asthma.

However, hayfever doesn't turn into asthma. Either you have ashtma or you do not.

Do you have asthma symptoms, such as shortness of breath, coughing or chest tightness? You can try this asthma assessment if you're still unsure, but it is for informational purposes only. You will need to see a doctor to get a diagnosis.

It is a good idea to visit an allergist if you are concerned that your allergy symptoms may be worsening or if you suspect that you have asthma the allergies may be triggering.

I think I said that; at least that was my intent. Hay fever does not "turn in to" asthma, but it can certainly cause asthma.

An allergy is the immune system's over-reaction to a normally harmless substance called an allergen.
