Are coughs related to allergies?
There are many different symptoms of allergies.
The most typical are sneezing, itchy nose, eyes or throat and runny nose.
If your doctor thinks your cough is due to allergies, ask your doctor for a remedy. Your doctor may suggest something as simple as drinking water and sucking on hard, sugarless candy to ease the itch in your throat. Nasal sprays are commonly used for allergy treatment and they may help with the itch in your throat too. Don't start taking or using nasal allergy medicine without consulting your doctor and/or pharmacist first.
If you are not convinced that allergies are causing your cough, explain your concerns to your doctor. Make your doctor explain why her (or she) thinks it's allergies.
You may also want to take some allergy tests to see if there are things that you are specifically and strongly allergic too.
Good luck!
