is Allegra D the best for allergies

I have tried Zyrtec and now on AllegraD ,but still having a terrible time with allergires when the weather is hot  and dry(August,Sept. weather )in Nw Indiana.  Eyes(very,very red red)and itchy and then the face from the eyes down into my cheeks red& swolen.A women ask me if I had been burned. I feel very tired. I am even stared taking augmenton and that seems to help. But I can,t live on Augmenton all summer and fall. HELP PLEASE....Buckett Pendley

Hi Buckett,

 

Sorry to hear you are suffering so. It's probably directly related to the pollen count, as hot, dry weather is when pollen levels are the highest. And August/September is when ragweed pollen is in the air. Ragweed is one of the most potent allergens around.

 

You should do everything you can to avoid pollen, such as staying indoors behind closed windows and air conditioning as much as possible, especially in the morning. If you must go outside, then change your clothes and shower when you do come indoors.

 

Allegra and Allegra D can both be effective allergy medicines, but they are not your only choice. If they're not doing the trick for you, you may want to talk to your doctor about other options. Perhaps a nasal steroid spray and / or antihistamine eye drops would be more effective.
