skin on fingers is so dry and cracked and they itch real bad and has also traveled up right arm and some on waist ,that has been like this aproximately 1 month.have even worn vasaline on hands at night with gloves.nothing ive tried has helped. what should i do .can't afford a doctor's visit if not necessary.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I would definitely advise you to see your doctor. Skin can become dry for many reasons, but simple dry skin will usually respond to moisturizers and emollients. Your condition sounds as though it goes beyond dry skin.
The itching, in particular, could be a sign of skin allergy or something else. For your own peace of mind and so that you can get some relief from the symptoms, I think you should see a doctor.
