He reacted badly to his formula as a baby and we changed it several times. He is in good health except that he is growing very fast and has to wear eye glasses and  orthodics.  He is altletic and has fiarly good grades in school. He loves to read. He is taking Zyrtec, when he remembers to.

Hi Rhea,

Sounds like you are proud of your grandson! Projectile vomiting isn't a normal reaction to eating, as you know. I would encourage you to consult his doctor to learn more about what may be causing this. It's possible he has some kind of food intolerance, but a doctor who examines him would be the only one who could tell you this for sure. Meanwhile, keeping a detailed log of when it happens and what he was eating/doing immediately beforehand will help the doctor understand what may be happening.

To your health,

Kathi

i would think that something he's eating is obviously making the child vomit.

you have to find a pattern. does the child vomit after every meal or is it after eating something specific. he can have an intolerance to one of the foods he's eating.

you also need to see his pediatrician, he can assess the situation and send him for the appropriate tests he may need. as for him taking his medication when he remembers,

it's not his responsibilty he is only 11, he needs to be reminded by an adult.

Did your g-sons pediatric DR. check for PYLORIC STENOSIS?? Its a rare occurance-most that have it are (first born males). Not always tho!! Its a muscle at the top of the stomach-that opens to let food pass in. If the muscle becomes too thick -it closes off-and the foods shoots back up. My first g-son had this-had simple surgery-then his baby brother had it as well. But they caught it as an infant. But if he's always done it-I'd probably change pediatric Dr.!! He should have found something by age 11!! But do a food intake diary for at least 2 weeks and see if it happens -and check to see if there are any food duplicates!! You didn't say if he was growing normally or not--if it was causing him any weight gain issues!!!! Giood luck and May GOD bless you all.
