recently went shellfishing and nearly ate my weight in mussels clams and qhahogs...ended up in ER with itchy hives covering body, got prescription for prednisone and had a loading dose before leaving hospital, hives and itching all dissappeared only to reappear next morning? still on steroids for next 10 days but should hives keep showing up in meantime? Do I need another trip to ER?

Hi Sam,

I would not expect new allergy symptoms to be erupting once you are on the prednisone, so I think at least a call to your doctor is in order. But if things continue to get worse, by all means, don't hesitate to go back to the ER. Better safe than sorry!

Stay healthy,

Kathi

Thanks for responding kathi...hives are gone and I feel alot better, not very happy that I have to give up my favorite food though!

Take care

You're welcome & glad to hear you're feeling better. My sympathies are with you about having to give up good you love, however. Better not to chance it, though. You sure don't want a repeat...

Stay healthy,

Kathi
