Q: can my 8 year old grandson take Cromolyn Sodium opthalmic solution

Hi Chattykathy,

 

I need more information (and to examine your grandchild) before I can recommend specific therapy.

 

That said, Cromolyn Sodium eye drops are indicated for the prevention and treatment of eye allergies. It is approved for ages 5 and older. Dosing instructions are included with the medication.

 

It should not be used if the diagnosis is uncertain, in the setting of fungal, bacterial or viral eye infection or if there is eye pain or visual disturbance.

 

The best thing to do is consult your family doctor.
