Q: Is it possible to be allergic to histamines contained in food?

A friend says she is allergic to histamines contained in food. Specifically some foods that have a high histamine content. I have searched medical websites and not been able to find any information on food with high histamine content. I thought the body produces histamines to fight foreign items it feels are a threat. Please enlighten me on the subject.
