Hi Charmaine,   Allergy medicines such as Nasonex are not cures. They simply treat the symptoms, in real time. If you don't take them, then they don't work, plain & simple. As long as your son has allergy symptoms, he will likely need to be treated with some sort of allergy medicine, which is what Nasonex is.   If you are concerned with the effectiveness of Nasonex or side effects, then a conversation with your son's pediatrician is in order. You can also pose this question to your doctor, as he/she is most likely to know how long it may be needed for your son, being familiar with his condition in detail.   To your health, Kathi
