my left foot and ankle has been swelling from a flea bite or spider bite and itches alot

something bit me on the top of my left foot right above the top of my big toe and my ankle and foot has been swelling alot and itches alot when i rest it goes down a little what should i do? i dont know if it is a flea bite or sipder bite what does spider bites look like or flea bites?

Hi Michelle,

 

I'd suggest you get your doctor to look at the bite if you're concerned about it. Swelling from a flea bite is not usual, I believe. But spider bites can sometimes be more problematic, particularly if they are complicated by infection or poisonous venom from the spider. If that is the case, you might need to be on an antibiotic.

 

But only your doctor can say for sure, so at least give him/her a call, OK?

 

Meanwhile, you may get some relief from itching by apply cold compresses to the area for 15 minutes at a time. Hydrocortisone cream may also provide some relief.
