Q: grommet causing me grief or is it my glue ear or something else????

Since i was 4 i got diagnosed with glue ear and now 12 years on ( im 16) i still have no improvement in my condition.

i got grommets 7 months ago and they are causing alot of problems wich are;

- earache

-multiple ear infections

-discharge from the ear.

- hearing loss

at the moment i wear two over the ear hearing aids because of my hearing loss. I also have been told that the grommets were not working 3 weeks after the operation wich was closely monitored.

i am fed up with earache and high temperature.

is this my glue ear, grommets or something else

Wow! You learn something new every day. When I first read your question, I thought it was a joke, because I've never heard of glue ear or grommets (even though I am a nurse). I apologize... glue ear is a very real condition and grommets are small ventilation tubes used to treat it. But you know all that, of course.

Unfortunately, I'm going to encourage you to bring your questions back to your doctor. It's impossible for us to diagnose you over the Internet, without really knowing anything about you or being able to examine you. If you're not getting satisfaction from your regular doctor, then it might be time to get a second opinion. You have the right to get answers to all of your questions AND to get healthy. So stand up for yourself, OK?
