I have to go through a pain clinic in order to recieve treatment for peripheral neurapathy that is in both hands and both feet and legs. There is an underlying problem of muscle contractions that are untreated at the moment. I had refused narcotics at the time being after being on prescribed codiene and morphene for years and wanted to try an alternative. The alternatives don't work for various reasons, so I'm returning to the pain clinics to follow their original designs. However, each urine test would show a postive result for methadone. Something I couldn't explain since I was refusing drugs of this sort anyway, so the doctor of course had to send the sample off and received the result that the tests were giving false positives. I had been taking OTC medications for sinus pain and headaches for seasonal allergies so looked it up on the internet and found where the same meds were causing false positive methadone results in others besides me. The doctors and nurses had never heard of such a thing, so I took them pages from the internet for them to read. I will be going to another pain clinic soon and will carry the same pages and let them know when I take sinus medications...I may get a false positive for methadone. Other than that.....how do I avoid being kicked out of a pain clinic for a false postive test? I have no income for testing outside what the V.A. pays to have done. All my medical needs are taken care of by our Veteran's Adminstration. I
