Q: Unoque Allergy Case

I live in Albany, Oregon (Willamette Valley) grass seed capital. I have allergy of dust and tree pollen. Went out of state to Wyoming and Oklahoma, symptoms of fuzziness left. When flying into Portland began to feel fuzzy. Tried shots for many years. antihistamines, etc.. Dust mites kill me in the winter and tree during the winter. WHat natural remedies are there? Or at least helpfull. This has created all kinds of health problems for me, colitus being one.

Dear Bob,

I suffered for 30 years after moving to the Willamette Valley.  I tried all the newest allergy drugs and the best was Loratadine, which is really cheap at Costco as "Allerclear" .  However, they all had the side effect of making me ache all over!  Great, I can breathe, but I feel like crap!  My PCP tried prednisone, which worked great, but  I felt like crap when I went off it!  Also, not recommended for long-term use!  Then I discovered Flonase, (prescription) which I couldn't afford it until it was released in generic form.  Last year and so far this year it is working great for me!  This year my PCP has added Singulair, which acts on the inflammation it the sinuses and is the next best thing to a septoplasty!  It's expensive so I will be using it only on the worst days until it comes out a generic. I live with a dog and dust mites and can now breathe at night and am sleeping better.  I've tried every natural remedy that came down the pike and haven't found one that works for me.  I also use saline rinse, 1 TBS salt and 1 tsp baking soda to a quart of water.  Hope this helps!  Linda
