Q: is it safe to give a child lamisil 250mg for ringworm

Is it safe to give a six year old child Lamisil 250 mg tablets for ringworm.  The pills was prescribe for 1/2 tab once daily hhowever the pills do not come scored.  what should i do?  He is also allergic to guiseofluvin.

Your best expert to answer this question would probably be your local pharmacist. I'd give him or her a call about this question. Not all pills should be cut in half because they may have a coating that protects the stomach or other reasons. But, if Lamisil can be safely cut (check with your pharmacist to be sure), you can score it yourself with a sharp knife by using a light sawing motion. Even better, buy a pill cutter. They only cost a couple bucks, and they're well worth it.
