Statins may trigger autoimmune hepatitis, report finds

A new report published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology has found that statins like Zocor, Lipitor, and Crestor may trigger autoimmune hepatitis in some patients. Researchers looked at six cases of patients with autoimmune hepatitis and concluded that statins were linked to the onset of the condition. Doctors say the results point to the need for caution when taking any drug, particularly if a patient has pre-existing liver problems. Read more »
