If your morning cup of coffee has evolved into a morning pot of coffee, you may becoming "immune" to the caffeine jolt, experts say. An experiment carried out on 379 people found that people who drink caffeine regularly don't get the alertness boost that non-caffeine drinkers get. Heavy coffee drinkers may feel more drowsy if the quit cold turkey, but that's because caffeine appears to just bring them up to baseline, or normal alertness levels.
