Many people don't think twice about using over-the-counter rubs and
ointments, assuming that non-prescription pain treatments, hair
removal products, and cosmetics can't be unsafe. But experts say
ointments containing such ingredients as lidocaine, methyl
salicylate, and hydrocortisone can pose serious risks if used
incorrectly. A reporter from CNN talks to experts about these
topical creams and gels, and she gives a list of 14 ingredients
that can pose potential risks if not used correctly.
