German scientists say that taking a grass pollen tablet may alleviate hay fever and asthma in children as well as allergy shots. Researchers studied 253 children and found that a daily dose of grass pollen dissolved under the tongue in the months before allergy season reduced the rate of hay fever by 24 percent and asthma symptoms by 64 percent. The immunotherapy also meant that the childrens' allergies were controlled with a significantly reduced dose of allergy medication during pollen season.
