Drinking milk may lessen allergy symptoms

Children who are allergic to milk may benefit from gradually increasing their intake of milk over a period of time, researchers say. This kind of treatment—called oral immunotherapy—is gaining popularity as a way of treating food allergies. In the recent study, doctors divided 19 children into two groups. One group was given milk powder in steadily increasing doses for four months. The other group received a placebo. At the end of the study, researchers found that the kids who had been given milk powder had less severe allergic reactions than the placebo group.
