Kids may learn to tolerate food allergies

Many researchers believe that kids' immune systems can be "taught" to be less sensitive to food allergens. Studies on oral or sublingual immunotherapy have started, using trace amounts of milk, peanuts, and eggs, to see if children become less sensitive over time. But experts warn that these experiments shouldn't be tried at home, since even small amounts of allergens can cause a life-threatening reaction in some children.  Read full story >
