Infant Swimming Tied to Asthma

Children who begin swimming lessons before the age of two may be susceptible to a common lung infection, as well as asthma later in life. A new study suggests that the chlorine in pools increases the risk of respiratory problems, particularly if kids have a family history of asthma or allergies. Belgian researchers say swimming is still a healthy and enjoyable family activity, but they urge parents not to over-chlorinate their home pools, and to avoid public pools that go overboard on the disinfectant.  Read full story >
