Dogs Plus Secondhand Smoke May Raise Asthma Risks

Kids who grow up with a dog in the house may be more likely to develop asthma if they're also exposed to secondhand smoke or nitrogen dioxide, researchers say. A study found that children exposed to dog allergens and the pollutants were five times more likely to have asthma at age 7 than those who weren't exposed.
