Allergy Proof Your Home

Whether it's you or a family member who have allergies, you are sensitive to "triggers", including particles carried in the air. These triggers can set off a reaction in your lungs and other parts of your body. An important step in fighting allergies is to eliminate triggers in your home. Common allergy triggers found indoors, include tobacco smoke; wood smoke; perfume; paint, hairspray, or any strong odors or fumes; dust mites; molds and animal dander. The good news is you don't have to strip your house down to the bare bones to make it allergy proof. Regular cleaning makes a huge difference in keeping your house as mold and dust free as possible. Other steps that will help avoid an allergic reaction include keeping your home cool (between 68 and 72 degress F); maintaining a low humidity (between 40 and 50 percent); and making sure there is good ventilation.
