For a person with dementia, the importance of living at home increases their quality of life in many cases. Home, for many, represents safety, peace, and the identity of the family. Caregivers must consider the current level of abilities the person with dementia has when looking to modify the home. Safety is not the only concern to consider when assessing the environment. Caregivers should consider adapting the home so that interests, hobbies, and other "homemaking" tasks can still be completed by the person with Alzheimer's.
