About Me

I come from a railroad family, both grandfathers, my father, my brother, an uncle and I retired early at 59 with 39 1/2 years that was my family's 201st year of service. One grandfather lived to age 99, with alzheimer's. His daughter, my Mother was 89 with alzheimer's and recently passed away in Minnesota,. She had fallen numerous times and was now in a wheel chair. Just recently we gave a celebration of life for her in her home town, Creston, Iowa, attended by many, many family menbers and it was truly TRULY beautiful! We had Captured her entire life in pictures, letters, cards, anything relevant, on CD's which were distributed to all the guests.... It was Wonderful! I got epilepsy at 11 in Omaha, NE and life brought me many accidents. Blacked out while driving in a Volkwagon ending up 2 1/2 blocks down an alley crashing into the rear end of a parked semi-trailer at 43 MPH. No more driving. Was hit by a truck getting 44 stiches in my head. I decided to just ride my bike but numerous blackouts put me hospital emergency rooms. My neurologist advised me several times my brain was bleeding, my brain was shrinking and my brain was bruising. After many hospital tests and visits to the doctor she told me I had alzheimers. I guess I was in denial though at first. Now, after more experience, I've accepted it but am dealing with it. I have always looked forward to life and will deal with it as well as possible.I can only thank God for the great neurologist and caring family I was blessed with. Some time has passed and my alzheimer's has advanced some.... but I still look forward to new adventures in my life.
