My mother often has restless, sleepless nights - hallucinations, delusions, agitation, yelling.  In desperation, sometimes I give her a sleeping pill prescribed by doctor.  Problem is pill only works for 2-4 hours.  Then it starts all over again.  We've tried both Restoril ...

    my husband responded well to trazadone. it's an old antidepressant with a sedation effect.

    Thanks for suggestion, Arlene.  Mom used to take trazadone, but doc stopped it a while ago.  He felt it contributed to her hallucinations.  But it's worth revisiting with him.
