My Grandmother has Alzeimers and I'm having a hard time.

My Grandmother was diagnosed with mild alzeimers about last October.  The General Practitioner put her on Aricept then.  I came to stay with her 2 months ago when my Uncle was put in Jail.  He's been back and forth to jail since then.  I can tell the Alzeimers has progressed from mild to moderate.  She forgets that my Grandfather passed away.  This morning she asked where her Grandmother went too (said she was here this morning).  I just don't know what to do with her.  She takes about 50 trips across a small county road every day to throw away 2 or 3 items.  She only sleeps about 5 hours a night, has no appetite, nausea, vomiting, cramps...every side effect I have heard about Aricept.  I got up yesterday morning and she had on 10 short sleeved shirts, 3 pairs of pants, 3 pairs panties, 2 bras, 3 socks on 1 foot.  I do not want to consider a nursing home for as long as I can stand it.  She will not take a bath.  But she still goes to the bathroom and eats, etc.  She is not wealthy so I cannot get anyone in here to help and besides my Jailbird uncle I'm the only one old enough to help with her.  I've called the state for assistance but she's on a waiting list.  If anyone has any suggestions please share them.  Has anyone went through similiar behavior?

Thanks

Vivian
