By Dorian Martin, Health Guide Monday, November 05, 2007
The reason why I decided to watch Oprah Winfrey's show on November 1 was due to an advertisement that the show would include a discussion of which country has the lowest incidence of Alzheimer's disease and the reason for this low rate. But what I learned from watching this show involves a mo...

Does being in the mid-70s make it too late?

Hi, Joy,

Everything I read in the research is indiciating that it's never too late to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Just take baby steps to get started and continue to build these behaviors into your lifestyle on a regular basis!

Good luck!

Thank you so much. another concern was the date of the book. I was wondering if a newer, improved edition is out.

Hi, Joy,

I don't see a later version of this book on Amazon.com. I do know that these doctors have written numerous versions of You (You: The Owner's Manual, You on a Diet, etc.) and have updated some of these  books. Also, Dr. Oz now has a daily show focused on health that's really informative. You may want to check your local listings to find out when it airs.

Take care!

I don't like Dr. Oz's show, although I like him. The show reminds me of a game show. I am SICK of game shows. I'd like something a little more serious.

Hi Joy,

I've watched Dr. Oz' show, too, and I agree about the games. They try to entertain while giving information. Apparently a lot of people like the game show atmosphere. We, obviously, are two who don't! However, his information can be very useful. He probably doesn't like the "show business" part, either, but it's usesful. Fun to hear that someone else has the same feelings.

Keep taking care of yourself - as Dorian says, baby steps work. I have to do that, as doing everything at once and sticking to it generally leads to giving up.

Best,

Carol
