I remember being told as a child, ‘It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” In serving as a caregiver with my mom, I find that those words especially ring true. First of all, my mom always has been in control. As the matriarch of the family, she was pivotal in almost every major family ...

your message was exactly, exactly, how I feel towards the love and concern that I have for my grandmother, Maternal, as she cared for me after my mothers murder. I have been dissoluded as to the condition of my grandmother as her two remaining children have not been actively involved in her daily activities and her husband of only recent (5 years) is extremely not interested-he himself ("old") however has some youth abilities-such as galavanting and taking male sexual enhancements and leaving my grandmother alone for very long periods of time-Up to 10 hours a day. I am very new to understanding my grandmothers and others- of this condition! My Grandmother means the world to me and she reponds to me better than ANYONE else. my email is: tweesner2002@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge that you could pass forward to me. thank you in advance and hope to hear from you soon!!!!!!!! ************************************************************************************ Tina - Despite all the other issues going on in your family, you are to be commended for keeping such a wonderful focus on your grandmother's health, needs and issues. She's lucky to have you! I hope you will continue to check out the wealth of information from all the people who write columns for this website. There's great information that you'll be able to use; I know that I have gleaned great ideas from Jacqueline, Carol, Lynne, and Dr. Campellone. And be sure to check to see if there is a local Alzheimer's support group in your area; having a group of empathetic people you can talk to face-to-face on a regular basis really helps when all of the responsibility seems to be falling onto your shoulders. Hang in there - and know that you are not alone! Dorian
