I haven’t quite reached the age where I can join AARP, so my dad has gotten into the habit of passing the organization’s publications. Therefore, one of the articles in the November 2008 issue of the AARP Bulletin wouldn’t be in front of caregivers who are younger than 50, but the information is very pertinent.
The story reported that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have created a new website, Ask Medicare, as a resource for caregivers. This site, located at www.medicare.gov/caregivers, offers information about Medicare, health care services and links to partner organizations that can assist caregivers.
The hope, according to CMS Acting Administrator Kerry Weems, is to help caregivers better assist Medicare beneficiaries. That’s a service that I would have appreciated having when taking care of Mom.
