That is such a hard sell, Dorian, but it's true. That reminds me - got to get on that bike : )

All of the brain games are good, too. One thing about crosswords as that they have been too oversold. They are very good for the brain, but they have a pattern. People can do their crosswords, but they need other brain activity to challenge them as well.

Thanks for good post.

Hi Dorian,

I think exercise and brain games really help. My father-in-law used to jog all the way to the other side of the park, which is about 20 minutes far. Not anymore. But I think this helps to maintain his situation now. We were told his AD is out of box - he gets worse very slowly.

About brain games, I think my FIL's MD knowledge plays similar role and that delays his dementia as well. Although he still gets AD and is getting worse now, I think these things do help delaying his progress.

I sometimes wonder it is not as simple as brain games - my FIL is not supposed to get AD given his education level. So I suspect it has to do with the blood flow and heart. He has a bad heart. It is not so simple.

Thanks for the post and help,

Nina

I wrote a post on this subject a while ago. Crossword puzzles have become almost synonymous with attempts to prevent Alzheimer's Disease.
