Alzheimers is so common in the elderly of my fathers generation, he is now 75 yrs. old. Remember back in the days when Soda Pop was in a bottle as well as a beer. There were no aluminum cans. And the cookware was generally either cast iron or stainless. Then in the 70s came the alum. cans etc. I strongly fell that is linked as to why the elderly is being hit hard with alzheimers. And it is even starting to affect people as young as 40!!
Alzheimer's was not identified until 1906, so its rates in the population would not have been studied sufficiently until decades later - it's probably not possible to conclude that there is a statistical corroboration between increasing rates and the advent of the aluminum can as opposed to better understanding and earlier diagnosis in general.
Thanks Jacqueline for your post. Community members may want to read more on the prevention of Alzheimer's Disease as well as what to know if they are just diagnosed with this disease.
All the best, sue
