Dieing with Dignity
Dave Malby
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 10:29 AMNo disrespect to anyone in this situation. My 57 year old wife has severe dementia. Her neurologist states that her brain is shrinking so fast that she will probably die within 5 years. I thank god that I had her sign a Durable Power of Attorney and a Advance Health Care Directive. She is not going to be hooked up to tubes. She is going to die with dignity. Her Blog: http://donnas-journal.blogspot.com/

Monday, November 09, 2009 at 10:27 PMThank the Lord he helped your Mom recover. I am attending school for physical therapy and our professor informed us coma patients can hear what you are saying and if they dont know you and youve visited they will remember your voice and name. It is a miracle from the Lord and Im happy to hear you never gave up May the Lord Bless you and your family.

Wow Jacqueline, talk about no bedside manner - that is a complete understatement. This is a true testament to the power of love and endurance. What an awful experience to have happen while such a sad and stressful event is going on in your family. I certainly hope this doctor has realized that he is not all knowing and the keeper of the keys, if you will.
Thanks for making us all think twice.
All the best, sue
