The AP article released today reports on a study suggesting that the use of antipsychotic drugs may significantly increase a patient's death risk.

This may not be news to some, since reports on this subject have been published before (see a similar article from 2007).

The most recent article sets itself apart by reporting on a long-term study, whereas previous news on the dangers of antipsychotics typically looked at the death risks after only 180 days or less once the drug had been given to the patient.

For more information, here is the Washington Post's report on the matter.

Also be sure to check out Christine Kennard's opinion on antipsychotics.

What do you think? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? Or do you think they should be taken off the market? If you have had experiences with antipsychotics please do share!
