 Hi everyone!!

Sorry I have been gone so long from this site but so much has happened in the last month!.

First off, I have placed Mom in a facility about two hours from my home. My Mom has little money and so I searched and searched to find somewhere I would be comfortable at. Then there was money issues.. HOLY CRAP, the calls and paper work I went through brought me to my knees. Some of you know me now, through cyber space but yet we still have that "Bond".

I have sat here crying, pulling out my hair and wondering how the heck I would ever live through this. Searching in the wee hours on the net I would call or email facilities only to find out they were not set up for someone like my Mom. All of you know about my rivers. One day a Man called me back and told me of a place his father in-law was at and that I had to get involved with a program to place mom in it. I checked it out and all I can say is..."WOW".

This program is called the "Waiver Pilot program".  What I know is that it is a California program studing how to save money on placing people such as my Mom in assisted living rather than placing them into a convalescent home. They ran the program for two years and in Feb. of this year re-wrote the contract to better fit the system. Mom fell into this by a call from a stranger to me.... Talk about having a wonderful crying session for a good reason. (finaly) something fell into my lap that was a good thing.

I want to share everything I can to pass this on to everyone.  It takes two weeks to two months to sign onto this program. Check with your local county help or go into medical.com and search it out. My email address is bhirdman@gmail.com and I am going to try and set up a gang mail to send out with all the info I have found.. Will take time on my part but this stuff should be on national TV.. I have hours/days/months of searching, crying and going down right crazy! But I have found awsome things that the county/state and Gov. make it hard to find..

Please email me and be patient as I try and set something up with a list of finds!!!!

 So...............................

PLacing Mom was the hardedst decision of my life. I felt like a failure in life. I felt like a cruel son with no compassion. Having next to no help, I was at my ends and was afraid day to day I would loose it! Never able to leave Mom alone. watching her like a child. making sure she was clean, fed, loved. A hard task for someone like me that has always been the outcast of the family. The details of me caregiving for mom can be enough to write a book in both the horror and comidy sections. the stuff that went on here was beyond imagination. I can only thank people such as all of you for helping me with everything. And the continued support I get from you is admirable to say the least..

We, my sister and I took mom to her new home together. telling her the truth that she was going to her new home. I was petrified! I sat in the back and hid my tears for the two hour drive as mom smoked all the way there not knowing this is a smoke free facility.
