A Poem with a message..

THE WOODEN BOWLA frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law and 4-year-old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table, but the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off the spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the...

"My Journey into Alzheimer's Disease"- A book worth reading

Dear Friends,

My Mom died October 10th, 2009 of a Massive Brain Hemorrhage.
She was 83. She had Alzheimer's. Although it hurts, I lost her a long time ago. I grieve for the Mom I once knew and for the little child she became.

I wrote a few times toward the end of my caregiving experience. I do wish I had found your site earlier. I found some solace in sharing, venting, and reading your shared...

Sharing some laughter...How about you?

Mom had a very "blue" day. She seemed fidgety and teary. Neither of us had a decent amount of sleep for a longgggg time. (Sleeping pills DO NOT WORK ON MOM! There is no way to turn off her brain!) Still, I thought...(my first mistake)... that getting her out of the house might be a good thing. So, on the spur of the moment,..I said,... "Let's go! We are going out for lunch." And within seconds I was...

A flashback in time helped get me by..

Anybody that has had children knows that parenting is filled with little quirks.
When my son was about 4 years old, he told me he hated me and was going to run away because I was making him take a bath. He asked me to help him pack. As we...
