Very nice post. It's really hard to take care of someone with alzheimers and your article just covered al of the things that needed to be said. Oral care are one of the things that's hardest to perform on someone with alzheimers because they may even refuse to open their mouth. As for the mouth wash issue, i'd like to add that the aid should just administer small amounts into the person's mouth as large quantity will most likely end up in the person swallowing the mouth wash.
Christine this is great information. I bet many caregivers out there are very concerned about the big picture that they dont have the capacity to think about the little things like teeth. Gosh even t hose of us without Alzheimer's have a hard time staying on top of oral care.
