My husband doesn't know he has Alzheimer's

Thursday, July 09, 2009 at 09:52 PMMy husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 3 and a half years ago. He was 68. I chose not to let him know....he would not have been able to handle knowing...so it has been very hard on me. I have a daughter that lives close to us that has chosen to not deal with this.....she will come over and take her Dad out once a month maybe for lunch, and a daughter that lives out of state that feels both guilty and relieved at not haveing to deal with this. I have a very close friend that is helping me as much as she can. I have a hard time accepting help from people...I am a giver not a receiver. I am 58 years old and I know that my health is suffering from this....but I don't care.

I like the way you open questions but acknowledge that each individual will have to decide many things based on their own instinct. These are really good tips, Christine.
