PATIENCE

By jenny7oh Sunday, July 20, 2008

You have to have faith in whatever you believe in and patience They will come thru for you.

Yes it is true. I also found that distraction helps. If the caregiver is stuck with the patient with Alzheimer's all day long, he/she should take some time off and do something else for a while (like taking a walk or go to a party and etc.) Unfortunately lots of people don't have the time to do so. But it is so true for family caregivers. Without distraction and patience, I am afraid we would go crazy or become sick!

Take care,

Thanks so much for your post and welcome to our community.  It is true faith is an important part of life - for strength through our struggles as well as joy for our triumphs.

It is also important to have a good set of tools and techiniques to help get us through difficult times.  It might be helpful to take a look at our Caregiver Center.  There are lots of tips for those who care for their loved ones.

As well, not knowing what stage of the disease your mom is facing, you may find it helpful to read A Day in the Life of a Dementia Sufferer.  Leah is one of our experts and has been blogging her experiences with her vascular dementia.

Hope this helps and stay in touch with us.  Our community is strong and can really be a support for you and your loved one.

Sometimes a problem seems superhumungous-and you feel like you are the only one that sees it as is.This is when you turn inward and say a prayer or talk to yourself ,give yourself the "yeah I can do this" and not be torn down by others. Many great people solved and created beautiful things alone.
