Unfortunately, I have experienced losing many family members.  The death of my grandpa, who raised me after my mother died, was especially hard.  He died on Christmas Day in 1973.  You never forget a moment like that--holiday or not.  One comfort we did have was a comment from the hospital chaplin--"Jesus only calls home the most special people on his birthday".  I've kept that thought with me all of these years.
