Sleep...What to do

By Leah, Health Guide Friday, August 10, 2007

Ah, that insidious disease is robbing me of yet another thing--sleep.  At least, I think that is what the cause is of my inability to get a full night's sleep.  I have read that dementia can cause this.  I usually can't fall asleep until 3-ish in the morning, only to arise about 8 AM.  My naps which usually lasted 1-2 hours are now down to 30 minutes tops.  I am exhausted...

The only new meds I have begun are Lyrica and Aricept.

Has anyone out there had experience with lack of sleep either in first person or in the case of a caregiver?  Am I correct in the fact that dementia can cause this?  ANd, if it does, how does it manifest itself?  And is there anything I do to make it easier to sleep? Blink

God bless you all in your struggles. Leah
